The selection of new entrants is not judged solely on academic ability. Character, potential and outside interests play a very important part.

OFSTED Inspection - 2007
In the Ofsted inspection (January 2007), Senior HMIs said:
"Bramdean is a highly successful, harmonious school where the pupils are well-mannered, happy and achieve very high standards. Academic attainment is excellent and there are very good opportunities for the development of sporting, artistic and musical talents. The school has a good range of specialist teaching areas and a well qualified staff who enable pupils to make good progress. The strong family atmosphere contributes to the pupils’ sense of belonging and the good level of care which they are shown. The school is very well led and managed."

OFSTED Inspection - 2009
In the latest Ofsted inspection (October 2009), HMI Inspectors made the following comments in their report:
"Those joining the school with lower levels of confidence and self-esteem rapidly improve within the harmonious climate the school promotes. This is recognised in parents' comments to inspectors."
"From an early age, all pupils report that they enjoy their school life and their high attendance reflects this."
"Pupils are enthusiastic about their learning. Pupils' behaviour is outstanding. Their keenness and enthusiasm in lessons is genuine."
"The provision of an impressive range of sporting opportunities is commendable and makes a high value contribution to pupils development of healthy lifestyles."
"Pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding."
