Bramdean School Junior Choir is a non-audition choir which was established in September 2017 by the Choir Director Rachel Bennett (Oxbridge-educated professional singer and singing teacher), to provide an opportunity for our youngest pupils to explore their voices and music-making in an age-appropriate, fun, and creative environment. The Junior Choir sings both alone and alongside the Chapel Choir and performs in school concerts and some external events. In December 2017, only three months after its first rehearsal, our Junior Choir sang, by invitation, as part of Exeter Cathedral’s “Big Festive Sing”, alongside four adult choirs including The Lympstone Military Wives’ Choir (of BBC TV fame) and Exeter University’s Chapel Choir, as well as our own Chapel Choir. Our Junior Choir’s first public performance was such a success that the children were asked back on to the stage so that they could be given another round of applause by the audience in the full-to-capacity cathedral! They have set themselves a high benchmark!
