The combined Forms 5 are showing great potential as budding musicians. They cooperate very well together and particularly enjoy practical activities and singing. They are working hard at producing some arrangements of two well- known popular songs: ‘Top of the World’ by The Carpenters and ‘Downtown’ by Petula Clarke.
Not only is the class strong vocally (with about half of them in the choir), they are also able to produce a ‘class band’ for the accompaniment, with a saxophonist, cornet player, percussionist and guitarist, as well as the piano. This project has increased all their musical skills, including transcribing parts of the score to suit their instruments.
The eagerly anticipated performance will be part of a school concert in March.
