Trip to Manchester City Football Academy

Setting off at 5.30am, we arrived in Manchester at 11am.  On arrival at the Manchester City First Team and Academy Training Ground we were met by our coaches.  The boys were taken to the changing room and given their training kit. They were soon involved in the first session, which included ball manipulation, skills and small-sided games.  This was followed by a tour of the Ethiad Stadium including the changing rooms, pitch side, media centre, training facilities and a visit to the gift shop.

After checking in to our hotel the boys enjoyed a three course meal, and then to bed, after a very long first day.

Day two saw an early 7am breakfast.  After the short coach ride back to the Academy training facilities, the boys participated in two more football sessions, which were separated by a light brunch in the first team restaurant.  Between sessions they had a glimpse of Pep Guadiola and the City players preparing for the Swansea match the following day.

The day concluded with a trip to the Trafford Centre Shopping Mall where, as well as doing some shopping, the boys enjoyed a very competitive ten pin bowling game, which was won by Elliott Butterfield.  This was followed by a hair raising go on the dodgems at the amusement arcade and a round of crazy golf won by Danny Carroll.  It was then back to the hotel for an 8pm dinner before bed.

After a slightly later breakfast (8am), for which everyone was grateful, we went to Inflata Nation Theme Park where the boys enjoyed many of the bouncy attractions.

The afternoon was spent watching Manchester City ladies play Lyon Ladies in the Champion League semi final, followed by the Men’s’ Premiership match against Swansea, which Manchester City won 5-0.  We had fantastic seats and the boys thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the ‘champions’.

The long trip back returning at 12.30am signified the end of a great experience.
