Concert & Chapel Choir
Bramdean School Chapel is dedicated to two Saints, Dominic Savio (the patron saint of choristers) and St George. It is inter-denominational and is used for a wide variety of activities including concerts, recitals, drama productions and school events. Unlike most school chapels, it is a registered public place of worship, and all services are open to the public.
Bramdean School’s Chapel Choir has a history of choral excellence, and has enjoyed an international reputation. The choristers currently sing the Office of Choral Evensong fortnightly in term time, lead the singing in the daily Assembly and are frequently called upon to perform at concerts and other events outside the school, often supporting charities. Entry to the choir is by audition; boys and girls aged 7 and over are eligible to apply, and applications from boys with changing voices are welcomed. There are annual Voice Trials held each Spring Term, but the Choir Director is happy to arrange auditions at other times throughout the year.
At Bramdean, we have a Choir Director, who is an Oxbridge-educated vocal specialist, and an Oxbridge educated Organist. We offer a unique training programme for 13+ pupils considering Oxbridge Choral Scholarships at 18+ and we also welcome applications from children who simply enjoy singing.
All Bramdean Choristers enjoy a varied musical, educational and social experience, and enjoy singing music in a variety of styles, from plainsong to pop! With no regular weekend commitments, they are also able to pursue many other extra-curricular interests.
Choral Scholarships and Bursaries are available to suitable candidates. Please contact the school for further details.
