Academic

Pupils progress through the senior school according to ability rather than age and class sizes are kept small in order to allow each pupil to receive an exceptionally high level of individual attention.

The senior school (years 9, 10 and 11) follows a full curriculum in preparation for GCSE courses. Pupils in the lower and middle sixth (years 10 and 11) have the opportunity to study as many subjects as possible through GCSE and A-level. However, in order to assist pupils, a prescribed range of subjects are decided on by close consultation with the headmistress and subject staff. In addition to the compulsory core subjects of English Language, English literature, and Mathematics, at least one science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics), one modern foreign language (French, German or Spanish), Religious Studies and Computer Science, are taken by all pupils. All pupils take part in various codes of sport during the week.

Learning Support

Bramdean School aims to meet the needs of all pupils, including quick learners, those with emotional and learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities to enable them to have an equal chance to learn.

All pupils will have the opportunity to experience and participate in various activities; academic, artistic, musical, sporting and dramatic in order to develop fully as individuals while maintaining their self-esteem and achieving their full potential.
